watch loads of sids first gigs especially the ones from holland and sweden and the last gig hes ok. the gigs before he got into heroine sid can paly fine

Although I do like John Lydon, He is so ignorant sometimes to say “If we went in with some heavy metal noise merchant” it would have been a disaster is ridiculous, He knew absolutely nothing about music & production at the time! Tom Allom who produced Judas Priest’s British Steel album would have done a fantastic job with “Never Mind The Bollocks”

Ah, I see. I was confused when you asserted whether these ‘real life witnesses’ were right or wrong. I did know Sid (we hung around in the same crowd) and thought I had found an old friend. Sorry I misunderstood.

  • theyakkoman says:

I’m quoting real life witnesses. Like I said, Kris Needs, Keith Levine, Paul Cook, John Lydon etc. People who knew Sid. I wanna defend the guy since he either gets “too fast to live
too young to die ” saint glory over himself or “talentless hack poser shit”. The truth, like so many things, can be found somewhere in the middle, but people seem to lean to the extremes.

  • illhaveadouble says:

theyakkoman: You speak as if you knew Sid. Did you?

  • thrillathakilla says:

He certainly was. One thing that Sid also showed is those who die young become legends.

  • theyakkoman says:

Well, at least I know he tried hard. Both Keith Levine and Kris Needs remember a night were Sid would sit with his bass the whole night threw and play along to the Ramones album, in that way learning to play the bass.

I think Lydon summed Sid up the best. “Sid was a very good friend of mine and I miss him dearly, but he was a twat. He bought the whole “sex, drugs and rock n’ roll myth”.
    He was a tragic character.

  • thrillathakilla says:

Sid couldn’t play much, Bodies and a bit of Anarchy in the UK but nothing other than that.

Watch them play in the Longhorn Ballroom, specifically during Bodies, Sid plugs his amp in, Steve promptly unplugs it.

  • theyakkoman says:

Actually, Sid did a pretty good job. He learned to play the bass and did it quite well. Then he met Nancy and THEN it went down hill.
I’m not blaming Nancy, but she and Sid were a star-crossed couple.

    LOL!

  • Bakerlite1 says:

Awesome – Sill good songs after 30 years

  • eveningthought says:

    LOL:
Malcolm: I suddenly realised that I was the manipulator…
    Steve: Malcolm shit himself.

McLaren is so full of crap! Even after all these years!

That bit bill was working is the Rejected version, you can buy it on iTunes.

  • thrillathakilla says:

The reason he was sacked or left was because he didn’t fit in with the rest of the group. But Sid coming in made things worse.

  • kidcalabria says:

Where are Parts 1and 2? Goddammit!! Don’t tell me they got taken off because of “copyright infringement”!
    Anyway, thanks for posting this

  • EuchridEucrow1 says:

Boy, Matlock does seem like a fairly bland individual, doesn’t he?

No wonder Lydon claims, in typically exaggerated fashion, to ‘hate’ him.

He did come up with one of the all-time great rock and roll riffs, though!

  • desasterz says:

here, Malcom’s alright, I’ve seen some interviews when he’s so not got a clue i actually feel sorry for him. He said once “John is a nice boy trying to be bad”

  • LOLUK says:

7:00 – Oh, shut the fuck up, McLaren!

  • Obelisk2290 says:

they are giving them way too much credit for their musicianship yet they had an impact

  • onitag says:

  • aintpluggedin says:

  • ajittffcure says:

Ha ha… classic stuff! I agree that John Lydon has got a unique churning vocal delivery.

  • Eddiethemetalist says:
